Rule Conversion Tables
In an effort to help members of the bar transition to the new Maine Rules of Professional Conduct that became effective August 1, 2009, Bar Counsel has developed a set of conversion tables. The first table correlates each abrogated Maine Bar Rule to the respective new applicable Maine Rule(s) of Professional Conduct. The second then lists which Rule in the Maine Rules of Professional Conduct corresponds to the related abrogated Maine Bar Rule(s).
Important Note: These conversion tables are only intended as a helpful reference aid. Attorneys are still urged to carefully consult the relevant language of all applicable new rules in each instance.
